Greater Pittsburgh Chapter / Animal Friends

PET OF THE MONTH
July 2008

Moon-Doggie
“Someone thinks I’m priceless! They’ve sponsored me by underwriting my adoption fee!”

Fun-loving and independent Moondoggie found himself at Animal Friends thanks to our annual New Year’s Rescue. A young Lab/Chow mix, Moondoggie loves to run in the play-yards and chase tennis balls—though he can’t always remember to bring the ball back! You see, Moondoggie is the canine version of the Absent-Minded Professor! Sometimes his curiosity and liveliness cause him to lose track of his current task in order to dive into something else! Who can blame him when the world is full of such intriguing things like birds, toys, people, and (most importantly) treats!

Despite his lack of focus, Moondoggie has managed to master several commands (including sit and down) and is a champion of pottying outside. He’s also wonderful at walking on a leash—he never pulls, jumps, or bites at the leash. Positive training classes would greatly benefit to Moondoggie in order to further prepare him for life in his forever home as well as provide a bonding experience between him and his new owner.

Moondoggie would prefer a home with older children (12 and up). Because of his energy level and squirminess with handling, small children may get knocked over. As far as other animals are concerned, Moondoggie would prefer a female canine companion, but any possible dog playmates should to be dog tested first.

Trinket

Trinket is a gorgeous silver tabby who came to Animal Friends because her owners were moving and couldn't take her with them. Since then, she has shown to be stressed and anxious in her condo, so our volunteers are working hard to soothe her and let her true personality shine.

Trinket may look like a slender and small cat, but she has a huge personality in addition to her beautiful silver coat. This spunky gal has lived with other dogs and cats, and she can hold her own with them during playtime and romping. But Trinket also can be a lap cat when she's in the mood for some affection, and then she loves to be petted and held.

Trinket told us that she'd be happy living in a home with adults, teenagers, and other pets. Right now, however, Trinket finds life in a cage to be stressful, so she's eager to go to a permanent home where she can totally relax and allow her vivacious personality to show through.

If you want a lovely and lively cat to add some fun to your life, Trinket may be just the gal for you. There is nothing trivial or trifling about our little Trinket. Her love is both genuine and priceless.
