| Steven Cornelius |
Steven Richard Cornelius was born in Pittsburgh and graduated (2008) from the Fox Chapel Area High School. He is completing his senior year at Penn State with a double major in Immunology and Infectious Diseases, and Toxicology in the Schreyer Honors College. He plans to attend medical school next fall.
Steve has been involved in numerous research, voluntary, and extracurricular activities at Penn State. His undergraduate research thesis examines the role of selenium as a treatment for ulcerative colitis. This past summer he completed an internship at the Pittsburgh Tissue Engineering Institute and the McGowan Institute of Regenerative Medicine where he assisted in developing a biofuel cell, an organic battery which may be benefit diabetes patients.
Over spring and winter breaks, Steve has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in New Orleans, Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota, and Global Medical Brigades in Honduras.
Along with his academic and voluntary pursuits at Penn State, Steve has been a singer in the Penn State Glee Club since his freshmen year and also enjoys tennis, racquetball, and skiing.
Penn State is a long-lived tradition in Steve’s family with his grandfather, mother, aunts, uncles, cousins, older brother and younger sister receiving their education at “Dear Old State”. It is a tradition that his 92-year-old grandfather started, and that he proudly continues. |

| Kelsey Krebs |
Kelsey Krebs is a Junior Biology major with a minor in Kinesiology at Penn State's University Park Campus. She is also a Schreyer Scholar in Penn State's Schreyer Honors College. Upon graduation, Kelsey plans to attend physical therapy school. This past year, she served as Activities Chair for her honor society, Phi Eta Sigma, and has recently been elected President for the 2010-2011 academic year. Through her honor society Kelsey regularly volunteers atThe Oaks Retirement Center, Shaver's Creek Environmental Center, and The Second Mile. She also participates in many other community service events such as Relay for Life, Earth Day Clean-Up, and Meals on Wheels. Kelsey actively participates in THON each year, raising money for pediatric cancer. Kelsey has also been a team leader for Fresh Start Day of Service at Penn State for the past two years. In her spare time, Kelsey enjoys playing IM sports and spending time with her friends. She is also an undergraduate researcher in a molecular biology lab on campus, and will be performing research over the summer in preparation for writing her thesis next year. |
